Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has told Billboard.com that he and the group are “eager to start writing music” for their next album, despite their current geographical challenges. He was quoted as saying:

“It’s not like we can show up in each other’s houses anymore; We have to plan it out and get into a room. We’ll go lock ourselves in a room for a couple of weeks and start making some noise and see what comes out. We took that approach on the last couple of records and it seemed to work. So it’s just figuring out a time frame. We’ll work it out.”

The statement seemingly confirms suspicions that an article posted earlier this week on Rollingstone.com was held over due to the delay of Crosses (†††) album from November to earlier this week. In that article Moreno said that the Deftones would be taking the rest of the year off, though the timeframe he gave suggested it was conducted late last year.

Furthermore, the Deftones are also among the newest additions to this years ‘Sonisphere‘ festival at Knebworth, England, as well as the ‘Rocklahoma‘ festival in Pryor, OK and the ‘River City Rockfest‘ in San Antonio, TX on May 24.

Meanwhile, Moreno also discussed Crosses‘ (†††) newly-released album in the latest article. He said the following of combining their previous EP’s and signing with Sumerian Records:

“We’ve taken the DIY sort of approach up to this point, but now I want as many people to hear it as possible because I’m very proud of it. When we finished the third EP and put everything together and sequenced it into an album format, I really listened to it from a different perspective. It made me really happy to think, ‘Wow, this is a really cool project that was built over time.’ This wasn’t something we rushed out. It really has this cohesiveness to it — the sequence, the vibe of the whole record. Out of all the records I’ve made, whatever band it was, this is one of my favorite recordings.”

He also confirmed that a music video for “The Epilogue” is in the pipeline and that more dates are being planned, but the project will “take it as it comes. If there’s demand for it, we’ll do it. But we’re excited about it, too.”
