Megadeth have personally requested that Newsted (fronted by ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted) be dropped from their previously booked ‘Sidewave‘ shows together in Australia. The festivals organizers have acquiesced to the demands, with Whitechapel now set to replace them on the shows.
No comment from either camp has been made on the change. The festivals organizers offered the following statement:
“At the request of Megadeth, Newsted will not be playing the above Sidewave shows and instead will be replaced by Whitechapel.”
The shows in question also feature Volbeat and include:
02/25 Sydney, AUS – UNSW Roundhoue
02/27 Melbourne, FL – The Forum
Both of the stops compliment all of the above-mentioned bands appearances on this years ‘Soundwave Festival‘. Both Megadeth and Newsted actively toured together last year as part of Megadeth‘s ‘Gigantour‘, where they even paired up for a Metallica cover.
