Butcher Babies Singer Speaks On Ruptured Breast Implant Suffered After ‘Topless’ Show (Updated)

While much internet chatter followed the Butcher Babies‘ decision to perform without their Wendy O. Williams inspired nipple tape attire; it appears there might be a more practical reason for their decision to sheathe their previously flaunted assets.

Speaking in the August/September issue of Revolver magazine, band frontwoman Carla Harvey revealed that she suffered a ruptured breast implant a few years back as a result of a particularly animated performance. She is quoted as saying:

“I broke a breast implant three years ago. It ruptured and there was a slow leak. I didn’t wake up one day with a cyclops boob or anything, but I had to get them replaced, which sucks because I had to take six weeks off.”

Update – September 27th 8:23am:

Fellow Butcher Babies singer Heidi Shepherd commented on the story, offering:

“Who hasn’t been injured in a mosh pit?! Topless, however, was not the “attire” that year! #whomakesthiscrapup #facts?”

For further clarity, the original article that ran in Revolver verbatim can be read below:

“In the early days of the band, Shepherd and brunette screamer Carla Harvey emulated their hero, Wendy O. Williams, by going onstage topless, with electrical tape X’s across their nipples. The outfit left little to the imagination and offered even less protection from frenzied mosh pits. “I broke a breast implant three years ago,” Harvey reveals. “It ruptured and there was a slow leak. I didn’t wake up one day with a Cyclops boob or anything, but I had to get them replaced, which sucks because I had to take six weeks off.”
