Behemoth Frontman Nergal’s Blood Included In “The Satanist” Cover Art

Behemoth frontman/guitarist Nergal has really included himself in the groups next album “The Satanist“. According to a recent interview with heavymag.com.au, Nergal‘s own blood was used in the painting of the cover art for the album; with the singer/shredder having sent artist Denis Forkas a batch of his blood to blend into the painting.

Of that Nergal said:

“I wanted to incorporate some of my DNA into the art. This album seems to be so defining of who we are now as people and as individuals, and considering all the instances in recent years, [we wanted] to make it more ‘ours’ than it is usually.”

Nergal also confirmed that there were creative differences with Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Carcass) in regards to mixing “The Satanist“. In turn, Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom) was brought onboard to replace him. An early 2014 release date is expected for the album.
