Opeth are expected to be in the studio before the years end recording a new album. The bands Mikael Åkerfeldt recently told Expressen.se that the group have been looking at Rockfield Studio in Wales to track the outing—though a final decision has yet to be made. He went on to say: “it will be an expensive album. There is a lot going on, a lot of string arrangements that we have not had before.”
When asked about how it will sound in comparison to “Heritage“, Åkerfeldt replied:
“Maybe a little harder—not death metal hard—but hard rock/heavy metal-hard. There are many progressive elements and acoustic guitars, but also more sinister riffs.”
Åkerfeldt will be handling the production himself with the effort expected out in the spring.
