Melvins Team With Original Drummer For New Album “Tres Cabrones”

1

The Melvins‘ next studio release will find them reunited with their original drummer Mike Dillard. That album will carry the title of “Tres Cabrones” and find its way to store shelves on November 05th through Ipecac Recordings.

Band frontman/guitarist Buzz Osborne said of the coming set:

Tres Cabrones is as close as we’re willing to get to the Melvins 1983 line-up. The best part is it’s all new songs. I specifically wrote tunes that would be good for these guys to play and it worked out great. We had no interest in rehashing tunes we wrote 30 years ago and chose instead to simply create NEW songs. It worked out perfectly.”

Band drummer Dale Crover moved over to bass for the release, offering:

“After 30 years we release a record with the (almost) original line-up of the band. I’ve always felt that drummer Mike Dillard was one of us. It’s great that he’s still a piece of the puzzle! Plus, I get to see what it’s like being the bass player in the Melvins! Tres Cabrones indeed!”

The groups current 30th anniversary tour finds them out with Butthole Surfers bassist Jeff Pinkus in place of Jarred Warren as a result of the impending birth of Warren‘s child. Remaining dates for the trek, which finds them supported by Honky, include:
