The Stone Temple Pilots legal mess has taken another turn with ousted frontman Scott Weiland now countersuing the band for $7 million dollars. TMZ have word that the Weiland seeks to block his former bandmates from using the Stone Temple Pilots name with their current and future musical endeavors and wants the bands legal partnership dissolved.
The band—who fired Weiland this past February—recently filed suit against their ex-frontman, accusing him of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, violation of the Lanham Act, and declaratory and injunctive relief. According to the band Weiland has been “misappropriating STP assets and interfering with the band’s livelihood” with his solo ventures.
The remaining members of the Stone Temple Pilots have been performing shows and working on new music with Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington in place of Weiland in recent weeks.
