Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins will have his day in court this summer. A trial date has tentatively been set for June 15th in his ongoing child sex, etc. case. Formal charges were due to be made against him today, March 11th, in a plea hearing. However, a series of ‘technical difficulties’ have seen the hearing adjourned until May.

Watkins, who has been remanded in custody since this past December, appeared in court today via video link. Another of the two accused females in the case also appeared in court via video link; while the other accused female—who also remains in custody—appeared in court in person.

Watkins‘ solicitor Sarah Williams-Martin stated:

“Mr Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made. He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time.”

Watkins and an unidentified 24 year old female have been accused with conspiracy to engage in sexual activities with young children; plus charges related to making, downloading and distributing child pornography and accessing bestiality pornography. A 20 year old woman faces the same charges in the case, sans the conspiracy to engage in sexual activities. The offences stem from a period of May 01st to December 17th, 2012.

As previously reported, the South Wales Police are facing an investigation themselves in the case amid concerns that they may not have acted expediently enough in taking Watkins into custody given the nature of the charges.
