The long-awaited new Tomahawk album “Oddfellows” is now set to arrive in stores this coming January through Ipecac Recordings. An as-yet undecided single will precede the release sometime this fall. As previously reported, Trevor Dunn (Secret Chiefs 3, ex-Mr. Bungle) has joined the band for this album, which was recorded at Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville, TN.
Tomahawk and Collin Dupuis (The Black Keys, The Nocturnals) shared the production duties for the album’s fifteen songs. The bands Duane Denison recently told Rollingstone.com:
“This is more of a full-on rock album. There’s no quirky weirdness – it’s very straightforward for us. The heavy stuff is as dark and heavy as anything we’ve ever done, but then there’s a lighter edge to it. There’s almost like this weird, upbeat [sound], what I call ‘heavy pop,’ and Patton totally got the vibe right away…[Patton likened it to] really heavy Beach Boys.”
