Rob Reiner, the veteran/director/actor, etc. who helmed the 1984 rock n’ roll mockumentary ‘This Is Spinal Tap‘, and this year’s sequel ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues‘, was been found dead with his wife Michele in their Brentwood, CA home today, December 14th. TMZ report that the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is currently investigating the matter. Citing unnamed sources, TMZ also noted that of the wounds the couple suffered were consistent with a knife.
Outside of his highly influential work in the rock and metal scene with the ‘Spinal Tap‘ series, the 78-year-old Reiner found success both in front and behind the camera, including directing classics like “Stand By Me‘, ‘The Princess Bride‘ and ‘When Harry Met Sally…’ and numerous others. This year also saw Reiner film an as-yet ‘live’ concert film for Spinal Tap at Stonehenge that was scheduled to be released in 2026.

Page Six report that the couple’s 32-year-old son Nick has been arrested in connection with the murders of Rob and Michele.
