Canada Does Away With Controversial ‘Tour Tax’

A tax the Government of Canada levied last year that had a significant impact on international musicians has been eliminated. That tax was passed last July and saw venues whose primary business was not music-related (aka bars, cafes, etc.) pay an application fee of $275 per international musician and crew in order to book them. Additional charges could also mount up as well.

Lamb Of God‘s Randy Blythe was among the vocal opponents of the regulations. A report over at The Globe And Mail has word that the fees, commonly known as ‘tour tax’, have now been done away with.
