Tool Say Work On New Album Is Still “Ongoing”

Tool have issued a statement regarding the progress on their new album to Rollingstone.com, it reads:

“Last night, Adam Jones, in a private conversation with fans attending the Portland Tool concert, joked that the band’s new album was not only finished but coming out the next day. Unfortunately, his off-the-cuff joke was taken out of context. Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know.”

To be fair it was initially reported that he said “sometime this year” not “tomorrow,” effectively giving credence to what was clearly a joke. That’s the only reason it required an official statement. This stuff happens all the time in the sporting world.

Everyone wonders why this band is so “mysterious”.
Hmmm, I wonder why, when a member comes out to playfully banter with fans and ridiculous rumours start the next day.

Most North Americans have constant access to information in the palm of their hand, and none of these “fans” thought to check if they have a new album out? No one was curious about the artwork perhaps?

I know people who can’t get through a movie trailer before they have relative information about it on their cell phone, and you’re telling me that nobody researched this within five minutes and knew it was bullshit?

I’m too old for this shit Riggs.

I’ve explained this a lot, but no one outside that room in Portland heard him say it was coming out “tomorrow.” It was reported by the media as “sometime this year.” Thus, it’s not the idiot fans’ fault, its the idiot media’s fault.

antiquiet.com threw whatever reputation they may have had in the trash. The story was obviously bullshit from the very beginning: the original link credited the quote as coming from “a fan in Portland.” This should never even have been a story.

Yeah. This fan in Humboldt County has a lot of bullshit to make up about his favorite bands if anyone wants the exclusive.

Great article on Chinese Democracy though.
