Slipknot’s Website Goes “Dark” As The Band Prepare To Enter The Studio

There’s some activity afoot in the Slipknot camp as the band have changed their site, Slipknot1.com, to a mere black background. They have also posted pictures of said void on their social media sites. Writing sessions for the bands new album have been underway in recent months.

To that end frontman Corey Taylor has told Kerrang! that “major” work will begin on the album in March. Seventeen demos have been completed thus far with Taylor offering:

“I can say that, to me – and this is only my opinion – it’s a cross between ‘Iowa‘ and ‘Volume 3…’, but that’s honestly just scratching the surface. I think the fans are going to be very, very excited when they hear this stuff.”

“I’ve written lyrics for everything that we have right now and it’s feeling pretty good. It feels like the story of the band so far, which is a totally different take on what I’ve been used to writing with Slipknot, but I think because of everything we’ve been through, it’s time to tell that story. It’s going to be everything you want in a Slipknot album, and everything you wouldn’t expect.”

No word yet on a potential replacement for drummer Joey Joridson who the band parted ways with late last year.

      • Yeah, pretty sums up my sentiments too.

I feel like Corey would rather be doing Stone Sour these days anyway. Which is somewhat understandable since he has such a great singing voice, but Stone Sour are shitty butt rock to me. Songs are incredibly boring for the most part.

Slipknot has enough moving pieces to be good w/o joey. I think they can still make a few good albums, but who knows. They will always be fun to see live though. None of this can be said about the bands they were lumped with.

    • I will admit I was pretty bummed to hear the news about Joeys departure. Even tho the Knot has been Slip-Sour ever since Vol. 3, it still kinda feels weird without him involved. Lets all face it tho, his drumming has also been slipping since Vol. 3 as well. There was a glimmer of the old Knot & Joey on A.H.I.G.’s “Gematria” but after that…Just an ordinary, radio friendly rock band.
