Metallica Form Their Own Label, Set December Release For “Quebec Magnetic” Live Outing

Metallica have scheduled a December 10th release date for their new live DVD/Blu-ray offering, “Quebec Magnetic“. According to the band, the effort will mark the first release on their very own label. Here’s what they had to say about it:

“About a month ago we mentioned that we have a live DVD in the works to complete the Death Magnetic experience and leaned on you to help us decide which songs would be on the main disc. As promised, we’re back now with more details on that DVD, Quebec Magnetic (!?!) which will find its way to your local retailer, online store, Metallica.com and favorite digital provider on December 10, 2012.

This release is a first for us… yes boys and girls, the DVD and Blu-ray will be come out on our very own label in North America! There are still some “i’s” being dotted and “t’s crossed, so we can’t give you a name or fancy logo just yet, but we’re pretty excited that for the first time we get to hold all the reins on a release from start to finish. Since we now get to call all the shots, the double DVD and single disc Blu-ray will be available for a price we thought was very Metallica fan friendly – suggested retail will be $15.98 for either format.

Just in case you missed the first story, the DVD was shot by our long time cohort Wayne Isham, capturing the two World Magnetic shows in Quebec City in the fall of 2009. You were kind enough to help us select the set list by voting here on this site [Metallica.com], choosing the songs played in setlist number two as the main program. All the songs played at those two shows will be included on the DVD/Blu-ray…”

Whoa! Totally didn’t and did see that coming.

15 bucks. Good on them. After paying 120 bucks for their Vancouver concert that they recorded for their 3d movie with no opening band im happy I’m not getting gouged again.

I wouldn’t give them $120.00 to play 2 hours in my living room, let alone for a concert video… Alright maybe I would… but I would ask that Lars does not come with them, I”d rather they use a session drummer or a drum machine.

I would rather listen to my skipping copy of Far Beyond Driven than have Metallica play in my living room.

I have respect for Metallica. Much shit as they get they did tour their asses off and proved that a metal band with songs about war, drug abuse and government control could gain serious recognition. As horrible as it is I kinda wish they’d loose all their money and get back into the mindset of being a victim of the world’s shit. Maybe then they could regain that piss & vinegar mindset and make an album that deserves to be under the name Metallica.

      • Totally see where you’re coming from but honestly, musicians age, get richer, and no longer have the same anxiety about life they did in their teens/20s. The sooner people accept that (which with this band will never happen), the better it is for everybody.
