Trent Reznor Comments On The Infamous “Dance Party USA” Footage

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has responded to the recently-unearthed footage of his band performing on “Dance Party USA”. A series of tweets from Reznor regarding the video made earlier today (March 28th) include:

“Many years ago, a young and naive Nine Inch Nails were asked what TV shows they’d be interested in appearing on. As a joke (and likely drunk), they thought of the most absurd choice they could come up with at the time.

They were then informed their bluff had been called and were actually booked on said show (thanks again Sioux Z). They hopped in their Honda Civic touring vehicle (hatchback) and travelled many miles to (I think) NJ for the big show.

They had a laugh making fun of the people, their fashion choices and hairstyles. Life was good. Years later, the internet is discovered… There’s a moral in there somewhere.”

He later continued:

“Come to think of it, Skrillex may indeed owe me some publishing on that hairdo…”

      • He put this very clip on the Closure dvd for it’s extras. He seems to not give a shit about his past and mocks the dumb shit he’s done back then.

    • “Yeah we took the show because we were starting out and were nobodies, but then we got huge and now we’re embarrassed and I can’t bear to admit it for fear of my one million douchebag fans killing themselves.”

Everyone on Earth looks at things through their own unique perspective, regardless of how (in)accurate that perspective may be. A lot of people are saying they took the gig for the exposure, and I don’t think his statement on this gig really refutes that. All he says is their camp reached out to Dance Party USA (an abortion by all accounts) and they said yeah, why not, and then NIN said hmm, this is a totally gay show but there’s a lot of kids with disposable income watching, fuck it. Let’s get hammered and lip-synch.

See, now everyone gets their way.
