Refused Reissue Planned For May

The internet has been buzzing with rumors of a potential Refused reunion following the launch of a new website at www.officialrefused.com. Despite the rumors however, it looks more than likely that the site was launched merely to promote an upcoming deluxe vinyl and CD version of the bands 1998 outing, “The Shape Of Punk To Come“, which is expected out through Epitaph in May. More details are expected soon.

Every time they reissue this fucking CD is loses more and more credibility. Next their going to make Guitar Hero characters out of them without their permission and make them dance to Lady Gaga songs.

One of the greatest albums that any of you will ever hear.
Loss of credibility? RxInfection, you know not of which you write.

Reissues suck. Unless it’s a remaster that improves the sound quality. I have had this cd forever and it sounds great the way it is. I don’t need expanded liner notes and video clips. They were a great band and I would love to see them together again and the sound that they would bring in 2010, but I want something new, not the second coming of something old. Epitaph sucks. So does Mr. Brett.

What I’m saying as, anyone out there who doesn’t already have this CD, isn’t going to get it. It’s just another way for Epitaph to rape another defunct band for profit. Which is everything that this CD stands against. When I said credibility, I’m referring to the fact this band broke up on the cusp of their breakout success because they were going to become another tool of the recording industry, and the art they created would be completely wasted. I still have my original copy that I stole from this college dj doucher back in 2000, because he didn’t even realize what he had, and I wouldn’t trade that fucked up disc for any reissue. One of the greatest albums ever recorded, no argument there, but let Refused be fucking dead already.

The Refused are fucking dead, long live the Refused.
RxInfection, you have a very romantic view. Nothing against your view, but anything that makes this album readily available for anyone to discover it over 10 years later is a very good thing. My original copy will remain with me until I die, and now I have the opportunity to have it on vinyl. Credibility keeps albums in the marketplace; that’s not selling out, that’s selling quality.
RxInfection, I admire your punk rock romanticism and your drift towards negation, but it’s a less relevant art than it used to be. The record labels are less and less relevant with each day; the music revolution is happening; The Shape of Punk to Come is coming back: self fulfilling prophecy. (How’s that for punk rock romanticism?)
I read somewhere that The Shape of Punk to Come was one of the most influential albums ever recorded; the article said something like 7 out of 10 people who have the album started bands because they were so inspired by it. Why should that opportunity be denied to happen again?

Tom, I’m sure I could have “ordered” it at some time in the past but I want to bike to the record store, see it on the shelf and buy the thing with a markup that will keep the record store in business.
Hopefully it is a 2xLP, nice thick 180 grain. If society breaks down one can still fashion a needle and find a horn.

My driver’s license was taken away for a year because I passed out next to my car with the keys in my pocket waiting for a sober ride to pick me up (which is illegal, who knew?) so yes, I huff and puff all the way to the record store on my Mongoose and I am not proud of it. I am not a character out of Clutch’s “When Vegan’s Attack on Ten-Speed Bikes” I eat meat. I like rum. I like music.

I have a Mongoose. When I was a kid I had a Huffy. Always wanted a Mongoose, but my parents always got me a Huffy, and all my friends had a Mongoose. So when I got older, I bought a bike so I could goof around with my kids, and I finally got the Mongoose I always wanted. Then I found out that the Huffy is the cooler bike these days. But now I’m 33 years old and I just don’t give a shit anymore.
