Ex-Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold drummer Mike Portnoy will be filling in for the late A.J. Pero of Twisted Sister at two upcoming tribute shows that will take place in the coming months. Portnoy confirmed the news, offering:
Yes it’s true…just leaving TS rehearsal now…myself and the band will both be posting more info tomorrow…stay tuned! \m/ #SMFforever

A quick PS – these TS dates have no effect whatsoever on The Winery Dogs upcoming album & tour…the timing works out great! More tomorrow..

Next year Twisted Sister plan to embark on a farewell tour called the ‘Forty And Fuck It Tour‘. It would appear that Portnoy will also be onboard for that trek as well. Pero passed away last month following a “massive heart attack.” Intrestingly, Pero had previously replaced Portnoy in Adrenaline Mob.
This also isn’t the first time Portnoy has filled in for a deceased bandmember, as he temporarily took over for Avenged Sevenfold‘s Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan back in 2010.
