King 810 frontman David Gunn is apparently not facing an upgraded charge of assault with intent to murder as was shown on a recent legal document shared by the band themselves. Metal Hammer got in touch with an unspecified spokesman for the band who said the upgraded charge was in fact a clerical error. That spokesman went on to say:
“David Gunn and Gene Gill are charged with simple assault stemming from a bar fight incident last October. The band are scheduled for pre-trial this Monday in Flint. Other than that we are not allowed to talk about the facts of the case.”
Both Gunn and band bassist Eugene Gill were arrested earlier this month for the critical assault of a man in Flint, MI this past October. Original reports had them facing charges of ‘assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.’ It was not specified whether or not those charges have been downgraded as the above band spokesman suggested.
Both Gunn and Gill will appear in a Flint, MI courthouse at 2pm on Monday, June 23rd for preliminary investigations. Both men have yet to enter a plea. A condition of Gunn‘s bail on the charge prohibits him from leaving the state of Michigan, suggesting that the bands planned stint on the 2014 ‘Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival‘ this summer may be in jeopardy.
