The benefits of Devin Townsend‘s highly successful Crowdfunding campaign have become apparent. Townsend previously explained that he would be diverting some of the excess funding into a second Ziltoid The Omniscient album. He has since announced that effort will be a double album, with the other half being a Devin Townsend Project release. Townsend said of that via Twitter:
“So check it: Z2 is going to be a double record, one Ziltoid, one dTP, and the theme it’s ‘Ziltoid against the world’ ….so… When we post choir songs, you can choose to either belt it out for Ziltoid, or sing with the DTP (or both : ) going to be a hoot…”
The choir Townsend refers to is a planned audience sourced choir over the internet with Townsend compiling the files together for the album. In addition to that, fans have had craters on the planet Mars named after Ziltoid The Omniscient and the Ziltoid track “Omnidimensional Creator“. See Townsend‘s Facebook for more on that.
