Phil Anselmo‘s (Down, ex-Pantera, etc.) coming ‘Housecore Horror Film Festival‘ in Austin, TX has revealed the addition of the Melvins to the festivities. The Melvins will replace Crowbar on the bill, with Anselmo offering:
“Sadly, Crowbar will not be able to make the gig. But madly great news is that The mighty Melvins are gonna jam the fucking night away!”
Crowbar‘s departure from the bill is the latest an interesting string of events related to the band and Down. Down bassist Pat Bruders recently exited Crowbar, with the latter band now auditioning for a new bassist. Meanwhile, recent pictures of Down‘s writing sessions have seen guitarist Kirk Windstein (also of Crowbar) absent; as he has been focusing his time on a new Crowbar album.
In other news, Melvins drummer Dale Crover will step behind the drumkit for Eyehategod at the festival; filling in for their late drummer Joey LaCaze who passed away as a result of respiratory failure last month. More info on the festival can be found at Housecorehorrorfilmfestival.com.
