Funeral For A Friend‘s 2002 EP “Between Order And Model” has been re-mixed and remastered by Mighty Atom‘s Joe Gibb for an upcoming November 15th ‘anniversary’ re-release in the bands native UK. The new version of the effort will feature a handful of bonus rare/live tracks, including “Grand Central Station” which can be heard below.

Speaking on the decision to revisit the EP, the group offered:

“So back in Jan 2002 we recorded a demo, a tool to help us get some shows to do something fun on the weekends after a typical working week. None of us knew how far that little demo would eventually take us…

Last year Joe Gibb from Mighty Atom took it upon himself to remix and remaster the old songs, they sounded tighter and better than ever. We were pretty excited, but then something pretty unexpected happened…

When we started out all those years ago there was one band that collectively we held up as one of our biggest influences, that was/is BOYSETSFIRE. We were fortunate enough to do a small run of UK shows with them in the autumn of 2002 and we became great friends through to this very day. So it was kind of mind blowing when they wanted to get involved with this ‘Anniversary’ edition of BOAM, offering to release the physical version through their own label End Hits Records alongside Mighty Atom. This to us is coming back full circle in many ways. We’ve never forgotten where we came from, we may have strayed from the path once or twice but we’ve always reset our course to follow our hearts and minds.

These songs are the birth of our band and without them we probably wouldn’t be where we are today. This is for the people that give a shit about our band, those who have stood buy us through all the changes and everything we’ve done in the last 12 years. It’s also a chance for those who have just joined us to get acquainted with our humble beginnings…

There was no real idea for Funeral for a Friend, no lofty goal to play arenas and the like…it was always about friends making music and having fun. And that is what Between Order and Model is all about.

So here it is remixed and remastered and on limited colour vinyl for the very first time, expanded with a few alternate versions of songs that made their way out on later releases and a bunch of live versions recorded while on tour this summer. Yes it’s rough around the edges…we wear our hearts on our sleeves and that’s something we’ve always been proud of.

Never forget your roots.

Funeral For A Friend.”
