A report over at the Desmoinesregister.com has word that Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor recently had $36,000 worth of musical equipment stolen. Among the items taken were two basses originally owned by the bands late bassist Paul Gray (see below).

According to the report, a then friend of Taylor was the culprit, making off with the instruments while Taylor and his wife were in tour in Europe these past few weeks. Taylor reported the theft this past weekend upon his return. Some of the stolen instruments have since been recovered with hopes to track down more.

Update – July 09th 11:08am:

Corey Taylor himself has commented on the theft via his Twitter, offering:

“Thank you all for your concerns. I appreciate them and all that the Des Moines community is doing for me. If you have any info please contact the West Des Moines PD. FYI- the basses stolen were not Paul’s personal basses. They were Paul Gray Signature Basses from Ibanez.”
