With yesterday’s (July 18th) originally scheduled performance nixed by inclement weather; Refused hopped on the bill of OFF!‘s show at Europa in Brooklyn, NY. The intimate set saw the band joined by Cro-Mags frontman John Joseph McGowan for covers of Cro-Mags‘ “We Gotta Know” and Bad Brains‘ “Attitude“. Meanwhile, those hoping for extensive shows or further output from the Refused reunion should get ready to have their hopes dashed. Group frontman Dennis Lyxzén took to their Facebook today, July 19th, to address the above-mentioned rescheduled show and in the process added the following caveat;
“The response has been overwhelming and we are having such a great time with this. We really wish that we could do more than are actually doing. But we are not that type of band anymore.
This is a strange sort of one-off type of deal that is soon coming to an end. But we are really trying to make the most of it while we are here. We never thought that the demand for a bunch of Swedish punks would be this big and we knew from the get-go that it would be impossible to please everyone. But we are working our hardest at it.”
