Vinnie Paul Says Pantera Would Recruit Zakk Wylde If They Ever Reunited

Apparently Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul (also of HELLYEAH) hasn’t entirely ruled out the possibility of a Pantera reunion. Paul recently discussed the possibility, insisting that if it ever were to happen, Zakk Wylde would be filling in for his late brother, “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.

Video footage, along with text, of Paul‘s recent discussion with Cindy Scull of 97.1 The Eagle about that can be found below:

“I spent two hours with Zakk, sitting down, a really great talk about… he calls (Dimebag) ‘the old man.’ I mean, him and my brother were so tight. If it ever were to happen, he would be the guy. But I honestly think, out of respect for my brother, I think we should just leave the 14 amazing years Pantera had be.

We’re all happy doing our own thing. We have to continue living and do other things. But like I said the 20th anniversary of “Vulgar Display Of Power” is coming — that was our best record ever.

There’s a song on there gonna be, actually there’s a new song that nobody’s ever heard, “Piss“. ‘You’re just piss in the wind.’ It’s totally Phil, it’s total his attitude, everything that Pantera was all about. I’m really proud of it. I’m really excited to see it…”

As previously reported, a 20th anniversary edition of Pantera‘s “Vulgar Display Of Power” is due out May 15th via Rhino.
