Nicko McBrain of British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden recently shared his unvarnished opinion the current U.S. administration. In a new interview with The Telegraph, the 74-year-old heavy metal legend recalled getting an invite to play a round of golf with U.S. President Donald J. Trump. McBrain turned down the offer, as he told the aforementioned publication in this new chat:
“I was actually invited to go and play golf with [Trump.] A friend of mine who’s a massive Republican said, ‘Oh, do you want to come and play golf with us? With the president.’ And I said, ‘You fucking what?’… and I just said, ‘No. No, mate.'”
McBrain continued:
“I’m not politically inclined, although I must be because I have my thoughts about him. I’m not amused by the narcissism, and all this kerfuffle about the Epstein files and whatnot, and especially the debauched war that he’s put on Iran.”
McBrain also reserved some of his ire in for United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. McBrain further told The Telegraph, “And this Pete Hegseth business — oh, he’s going to be put in prison… My last word on Trump and his bunch of cronies is, they should be put in jail.”
McBrain isn’t the only member of Iron Maiden to have strong opinions about the actions of the current U.S. administration. While performing in Toronto, Ontario earlier this year, the group’s vocalist Bruce Dickinson made it a point to say from the stage:
“How long has it been since we have been to Toronto? Too long, too long. And in Canada, in fact. We got here, we crossed Lake Ontario, we will be crossing the Gulf of Mexico. It is a ridiculous state of the world.”
Both of those bodies of water have been renamed Lake America and Gulf Of America respectively in the United States via directives signed by Trump amid his current term. McBrain stepped down from touring with Iron Maiden back in back in December of 2024, citing complications from a previous battle with cancer and a mini-stroke. He has been making the rounds in the press lately to promote the release of his new autobiography, ‘Hello Boys And Girls!‘, which will be published tomorrow, October 22nd.
Iron Maiden are set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame on November 14th, as part of an official induction ceremony in Los Angeles, CA. The group are not expected to be attendance at the event, having been critical of the institution in the past and being otherwise occupied by prior live engagements.
