“Higher“, the 2x platinum 1999 hit single from hard rockers Creed, recently got an unexpected viral boost. Instagram users have noted that the song was being autosuggested for use in stories and posts on the platform an inordinate amount of times on the social media program. It would appear that continued suggestions of that song got the point where some users had begun to suspect some grand conspiracy or pay for suggestion scheme.
Billboard reached out to Instagram‘s parent copany Meta to get word on the matter, and were provided the following statement:
“We looked into this and found that this song is being recommended to more people than intended. We’re continuing to investigate.”
The aforementioned publication also reached out to Creed for word on the matter, but did not receive a response as of press time.
