Former GWAR vocalist Chuck Varga, better known in the band as the Sexecutioner, has passed away. Varga had been battling cancer, with the band having organized a blood drive and charity auction several months ago to assist with his hospice care and associated expenses. Varga was a co-founding member of the group, whose performances, character designs, illustrations and more played a pivotal role in the group’s evolution. His last tenure with the band ended back in 2017.
Gwar‘s bassist/vocalist Casey “Beekcake The Mighty” Orr confirmed the sad news of Varga‘s passing overnight, stating on social media yesterday, September 25th:
“Chuck Varga has left this earthly realm. He passed peacefully, his beloved wife Bambi holding his hand. He was one of a kind. As an artist, as a performer; as a scholar and a gentleman. I’m better for having known him and the world is lesser for his leaving. He is most likely being welcomed into Valhalla right now by Brockie and Smooty and all who went before. Raise your glass and tell his tales. Legends never die. Hail Varga! Hail Sexicutioner!”
