Sharon Osbourne is featured in the latest issue of Metal Hammer and discussed numerous ventures currently in the works involving her late husband, heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne. The chat touched upon the previously announced plans to resurrect ‘Ozzfest‘ in the new year for stop(s) at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK and potentially the United States. According to Sharon, an announcement is expected soon, with bookings still falling into place.
Also discussed was the planned theatrical release of the ‘Back To The Beginning‘ live concert film. That event was an all-star final live sendoff for Ozzy and Black Sabbath. It was announced last July, that film was in the works. According to Sharon, it will reportedly be out later this year.
The discussion also saw Sharon further weigh in on the controversy surrounding the family’s plans to create a life-size A.I.-based digital avatar of Ozzy, which will be cropping up via Proto Luma’s holoportation technology later in the year. The reaction to that endeavor has been mixed, with Sharon once again defending the decision in this latest chat, stating:
“I’ve seen such shit online about it being a ‘money grab’. Why would I need to do that? It’s not as if I’m using Ozzy to sell fucking weedkiller or beer. Ozzy loved the idea. We’ve been talking about it for 10 years. Ozzy has this great body of work that took a lifetime to do – why shouldn’t he still be seen?
Why should we have to watch the same videos over and over again, when there’s technology available that means we don’t have to? If you don’t like it, don’t go see it. I’m not at people’s houses with a fucking gun, going, ‘Give me your money!”
