Danny Worsnop appears to have recently made some revealing posts about his level of involvement in Asking Alexandria on social media. As captured by a fan on Reddit, a comment made by Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen on Worsnop‘s post drew an in-depth response.
Avildsen appeared to reference Worsnop‘s country solo career and his shifting focus between it and fronting Asking Alexandria. Avildsen commented on Worsnop‘s post, “asking alexandria should be his focus and back on sumerian when they were peak button —->” Avildsen‘s response encouraged fans to like his comment, but per a screencap, it also drew a direct response from Worsnop as well. Asking Alexandria of course experienced the height of their fame to date while signed to Sumerian Records early on, releasing the first six of their eight studio albums through the label.
Worsnop briefly exited the band in 2015 and his new response indicates that he is no longer involved with the business aspects of the group. It read:
“@ashavildsen you better than most should know that I never rejoined the band and don’t have any control or say or involvement in the business decisions or operations of the band. I play no part in either direction in you sending them an offer and then accepting or refusing it. I’m not (or wouldn’t be) on the deal so don’t have a dog in that fight in either direction. As for my “focus”, it also isn’t within my control when the band does and doesn’t want to work or not work. If you want an Asking Alexandria album on your label, maybe don’t focus on trying to pressure the guy who wouldn’t be making that call and who’s name wouldn’t be on the contract and focus on the guys who would.”
A separate reply in that same thread also drew an informative response from Worsnop. It came about when one fan commented:
“All the guys in Asking are fucking amazing, but dude… you are the band to me. If you’re not a part of it, then so be it. I’ll still be a forever fan. And I’ll always say this, Danny: I’ve been to a lot of shows, and your vocals are hands down the best I’ve ever heard live. Megadeth comes in at a very close second, but you still take the top spot.”
Worsnop replied:
“I may not be a part of the business, but that doesn’t change anything in terms of us being friends who love playing music together. I don’t even know if anybody wins if I were to rejoin the business…
I’d have to read more emails and take more meetings and vote/weigh in on business and creative decisions… would also make votes even, which means stalemates now exist with two saying yes and two saying no…”
Worsnop‘s enthusiasm for Asking Alexandria was the source of much scrutiny last year, after fans accused him of phoning it in live, enlisting backing tracks for his screams, and being more invested in his country music career than the band. A disastrous ‘Vans Warped Tour‘ livestream further drew controversy.
Worsnop himself would go on to address the matter, explaining that he no longer screams live due to it affecting his vocal ability. He also blamed that controversial concert on various stage and sound production issues, which led to a poor representation of the set being livestreamed.
