Reflections issued their final studio album, “Crystal Eyes“, today, July 17th. That 10-song outing features material that was written and recorded between 2020 and 2026. The finality of this effort isn’t surprising development given the turmoil that erupted in the band earlier this year.
This past January, the Minnesota-based progressive metalcore band’s primary songwriter, guitarist Patrick “Patty” Somoulay and bassist Francis Xayana both quit after tensions emerged internally with vocalist Jake Wolf. The pair in particular noted in their exit statements that Wolf‘s support of ICE, aka the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was a key sticking point in their decision to exit.
Xayana went on to claim in part this past January:
“Jake is an ICE apologist and I will not fuck with someone like that.
I don’t give a flying fuck what we’ve been through. I cannot trust a person who thinks this is necessary.
And honestly fuck you if you support this ICE shit. You’re a fucking bitch.”
Xayana also further went on to state that Wolf had control of the band.
