Self-proclaimed ‘satanic doo-wop’ band Twin Temple have been ejected from country musician Charley Crockett‘s forthcoming tour over the latter’s objection of Twin Temple‘s usage of satanic imagery. In a statement shared yesterday, July 08th, Twin Temple outlined the situation as follows:
“Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to remove Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery.
Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to perform for you next week as planned. We are really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting back out and seeing you, and also what it meant as far as bringing different types of people and music lovers together. We are sorry to everyone who was planning to see us. We’re grateful for your support, not only of Twin Temple, but more importantly of artistic freedom. HAIL SATAN! 93/93″
One would presume that somewhere down the line someone failed to do their research, as Twin Temple have long been passionate about the occult. Satanic lyrical content and imagery are foundational to Twin Temple‘s entire craft. Their top songs on streaming platforms readily reflect that, with “Lucifer, My Love“, “Satan’s A Woman” and “Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy” among their most played as of press time.
Pressed for comment by Rolling Stone, Crockett responded, “I thought they were like Black Sabbath but they ain’t. Not today Satan.”
Twin Temple will be out with more agreeable company later this year, having been booked for this fall tour with Danzig, Burning Witches and ANA.
