Limp Bizkit's Latest Stage Production Pays Tribute To Classic Albums From Metallica, Primus, Tool, Beastie Boys, Nirvana & More

Considering Limp Bizkit got their big break back on the back of a cover of George Michael‘s diamond-certified 80s hit “Faith” back in 1998, it’s no surprise that the nü-metal icons have frequently paid tribute to their influences. The group’s setlists have long been known to sport covers and medleys of other artist’s tracks, and now their latest stage production follows suit, in a sense.

Created with a nostalgic flair, the stage props on the group’s current run across Europe and the UK has seen them indirectly shouting out some of their favorite albums via a collection of faux oversized cassette tapes. In a recently shared video on his Instagram stories, Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst inadvertently gave a look at some of those albums being celebrated while showcasing a memey image featuring alien conspiracy theorist Bob Lazar.

I’ve gone on to do the heavy lifting to discern some of the more prominently featured records featured on the stage. It’s a diverse crop that spans numerous genres and primarily dates back to the 80s and 90s. There’s rap cornerstones released by the likes of Nas and Wu-Tang Clan, grunge and metal masterpieces from Nirvana and Metallica, and genre-defining releases from the likes of Portishead, Jane’s Addiction and more. The following albums are clearly visible in the footage:

The Jesus Lizard – “Liar
Nas – “Illmatic
Portishead – “Dummy
Metallica – “…And Justice For All
Cypress Hill – “Cypress Hill”
Ween – “The Pod”
Wu-Tang Clan – “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)”
Agent Orange – “Living In Darkness”
Primus – “Sailing The Seas Of Cheese”
Run-D.M.C. – “Run-D.M.C.”
Jane’s Addiction – “Nothing’s Shocking”
Tool – “Ænima”
Beastie Boys – “Licensed To Ill”
Queensrÿche – “Empire”
Nirvana – “Nevermind”
A Tribe Called Quest – “The Low End Theory”
Minor Threat – “Minor Threat”
Eric B & Rakim – “Follow The Leader”

Additional live footage out there of Limp Bizkit on this run reveals even more of the albums being highlighted via the stage production on this tour, including:

House Of Pain – “House Of Pain
Nine Inch Nails – “Pretty Hate Machine
Pete Rock And CL Smooth – “Mecca And The Soul Brother
Das EFX – “Hold It Down
Sepultura – “Chaos A.D.
Public Enemy – “It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
The Pharycyde – “Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde
311 – “Music
Mobb Deep – “The Infamous

Records from Led Zeppelin, Yaz, Kraftwerk, Pegboy and more are also present in the stage production, you can take a look for yourself below and maybe even lock in a few that I missed in the below clip. Of course, I’d be remiss to not note that inclusion of House Of Pain’s self-titled hit album is a nod to the past of the band’s own DJ Lethal, who first found fame as a member of that group.
