Chicago post-metal band Russian Circles have newly unveiled the details for their upcoming ninth studio album. Simply titled “Nine“, that effort will be out on August 28th through Sargent House. Initial recording sessions for this effort took place at Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL, the studio of the late Steve Albini. Converge‘s Kurt Ballou served as the engineer for the album, which eventually wrapped at his own GodCity Studio in Salem, MA. The band collectively said of their creative process these days:

“The music we make is a collective process of reconciliation, navigation, and reflection upon aging both as individuals and as a creative entity. Life has created very real distances between us, but the band continues to be at the center, and this creative collaboration is a way of charting the passage of time while also giving us a reason to look to the future.”

The song “Empath” has just been launched as the lead single from the record and arrives with a video created by Madeline Hampton. Russian Circles will be getting the word about this new album out there with a fall North American headlining tour that will see Pelican and Primitive Man opening. Tickets for this newly announced run will be available this Friday, June 26th at 10:00am local time.
