A Perfect Circle‘s recent surprise debut of a brand new track in the form of “Starless” isn’t the extent of what the multi-platinum supergroup have in store. Outside of touring extensively this year, the band also have more new music in the works, as confirmed by co-vocalist/guitarist, etc., Billy Howerdel. Speaking recently with 93X, Howerdel stated, “There’s more [music] underway. And in the spirit of soft deadlines, I’m not gonna give you the date, but we’re working toward something.”
Howerdel later revealed in that same discussion that the something that they are working towards seems to be a new studio album. The group’s current full-length outing, “Eat The Elephant” arrived back in 2018. Despite currently being on tour in Europe and the UK, Howerdel remains hopeful to find some downtime on the road to make some progress with that, stating, “…to get real cracking on to the new album, it’s gonna be… I need a couple more of these days to line up over the next tour.”
It would seem that his bandmate in A Perfect Circle, vocalist Maynard James Keenan (also of Tool and Puscifer), may have already got a head start on that. Given the multitude of projects and business ventures Keenan regularly balances, he is known for his shrewd usage of time management. Over the weekend, he shared the below image of what appears to be a hotel room vocal session, presumably to work on new song ideas.
