Pearl Jam Have Found A New Drummer To Replace Matt Cameron

Grunge icons Pearl Jam have located a new drummer, though they’re holding off on the announcement of exactly who it is for now. That position in the band was left vacant last year when Matt Cameron exited the band after a 27-year stint. Per Spin, the band’s guitarist Stone Gossard confirmed this week that a replacement has been locked in, but likely won’t be unveiled until this September, when the band take the stage at this year’s 10th annual ‘Ohana‘ festival.

Gossard explained the decision on SiriusXM‘s Pearl Jam channel earlier this week:

“I love the mystery of it all. It’s so exciting. There’s not enough mystery in the world. I think the band is very excited that we’re actually getting to play. It’s been a while and the fact that we get to do it at ‘Ohana‘ makes it even doubly exciting. And the fact that nobody knows who’s going to play drums with us even makes it triply exciting. So, it’s our mystery wrapped in an enigma and we’re relishing in it right now.”

As it stands now, the band’s live return/unveiling of this newest member will take place September 27th at Doheny State Beach on Dana Point, CA, when the band headline the closing date of the 2026 ‘Ohana Festival‘.
