The newest incarnation of DragonForce hit the stage for the first time yesterday, May 09th, at the annual ‘Welcome To Rockville‘ festival in Daytona Beach, FL. Last week the platinum-certified power metal outfit made a shocking announcement, revealing that ex-Arch Enemy/The Agonist vocalist Alissa White-Gluz has joined them in an additional vocalist role.

Yesterday’s show delivered another surprise altogether however, as it found Alissa taking on the lead vocal role without Hudson. The latter has been sidelined by issues with his hearing loss/tinnitus. The band explained:

“This hasn’t been a sudden decision, but something he has been managing behind the scenes for quite some time. After careful consideration, it’s become clear that taking a little break is the best move for his long-term health and recovery.

We know many of you were looking forward to seeing him on stage again with Alissa, but don’t worry. We have new music with Marc and Alissa in the works. In the meantime, Billy [Wilkins, touring guitarist/vocalist] will be stepping in to handle the next two live performances.

Thank you for all your love and support.”

The band will once again be performing in this latest configuration at the ‘Sonic Temple Art & Music‘ festival in Columbus, OH on May 17th.
