Much was said in the press about Lamb Of God‘s decision to ‘retire’ their old papyrus-styled font logo with the arrival of their latest album “Into Oblivion” this past March. Appearing on HardLore a few months back in February, the groove metal band’s frontman Randy Blythe summed up the change as follows:
“Well, our logo, to be perfectly honest, needed changing. It’s the papyrus font. And had we known 20-however many years ago that we would wind up looking like a falafel restaurant menu, we wouldn’t have used that. But that was before papyrus font was ubiquitous.”
Given the self-deprecating nature of Blythe‘s comments, some fans expected that past logo to remain retired going forward, that is until it showed up again on an admat used for yesterday’s (May 05th) announcement of Lamb Of God‘s early 2027 European/UK tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Bleed From Within.
This led to speculation from fans on social media platforms, and whether or not the usage of the logo on the admat was a potential oversight. This led Lamb Of God guitarist Mark Duane Morton to address the matter on his Instagram as follows:
“…yall funny as hell man.
the most recent @lambofgod logo is literally the SEVENTH logo we’ve used…
and all have remained in rotation for different things at different times…
but ohhhh the despairalso….enjoy Dead Horse”
