Dope Awarded Their First-Ever Gold Single In The United States

Industrial nü-metal outfit Dope have just been awarded their first-ever gold certification in the United States. “Die MF Die“, a non-single from their 2001 sophomore album “Life“, has just hit the criteria for that certification. The RIAA announced the news yesterday, April 20th.

While no doubt a feather in the cap for the band’s longtime frontman Edsel Dope (now also of Static-X), the track does come with a bit of moral conflict, given that disgraced guitarist Tripp Eisen (ex-Static-X) holds a writing credit on it. However, Eisen was out of the band by the time the song recorded and released.

*A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit. 150 streams of a song also equate to a track-equivalent unit.
