British alternative metal stars Bring Me The Horizon have announced their big plans to celebrate 20 years of their 2006 debut album “Count Your Blessings” this year. Of course, the Bring Me The Horizon of 2006 were a much different beast, with the outfit firmly planting their flag in the then burgeoning deathcore genre.
While a 20th anniversary live celebration of that seminal album from the band has been booked, the group have also gone the proverbial extra mile with a complete re-recording of the effort. This development has been a shocking, but welcome development for diehard fans of the group, with the band’s transition into alternative metal territory over the years bringing them commercial acclaim and massive success, but often finding them leaving much of their earliest material n the rearview.
This full album re-recording has been described by the band’s camp as a reaffirmation of the record and found them enlisting Buster Odeholm of thrown, Vildhjarta, etc. fame to handle the mixing duties. They’ve labeled this new take on the record “Count Your Blessings – Repented“, and will have it out on July 10th. They’ve also described it as being, “reborn, sharper, heavier, and more vital than ever.”
Pre-orders for it have arrived in select regions already alongside several associated merch designs via bmth.co/cyb-repentedPF, all while their official webstore currently sports a MySpace retro-themed look. The confirmed track listing for” the outing “Count Your Blessings – Repented” so far runs as follows:
01 – “Pray For Plagues“
02 – “Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick“
03 – “For Stevie Wonders Eyes Only“
04 – “A Lot Like Vegas“
05 – “Black & Blue“
06 – “Slow Dance“
07 – “Dragon Slaying” (also known as “Liquor & Lost Love“)
08 – “(I Used To Make Out With) Medusa“
09 – “Fifteen Fathoms, Counting“
10 – “Off The Heezay“
11 – TBA
As of press time, the outfit are obscuring the 11th track, which diehard fans may remember originally emerged as a cover of Slipknot‘s “Eyeless” that was exclusive to a Hot Topic release of the record. Whether or not the band have revisited that cover now or having something else up their sleeves remains to be seen.
As for the group’s live plans commemorating this milestone, they will be headlining the B.E.C. Arena in Manchester, UK on July 10th to perform “Count Your Blessings” in its entirety for the first time ever, along with additional fan favorites.
Support at that show will come from Static Dress, Dying Wish, Heriot, Rolo Tomassi, Car Underwater and Still In Love, with the event being presented by ‘Outbreak Fest‘. UK fans who pre-order the ‘Repented’ version of the aforementioned album before 3pm BST tomorrow, April 14th, will be granted presale access to tickets for the show.
Today’s big announcements emerge after some recent teases related to the album’s anniversary showed up in the real world over the last week.
