Post-hardcore supergroup Held. have returned with a new single, “KNIFEPOINT“. Graham Sayle, vocalist of British hardcore/post-punk outfit High Vis, appears in a guest feature on this track. Held.’s lineup consists of Douglas Robinson (vocals/guitars) and Sal Mignaro (bass) of Long Island, NY post-hardcore band The Sleeping, and Josh Eppard (drums) of platinum-certified prog rockers Coheed And Cambria.
Speaking of how this latest single and its international cameo came about, Robinson stated:
“This song has a lot of attitude, and that’s a big reason we wanted Graham from High Vis to be a part of it. We’re all big fans of Graham and High Vis. When I wrote the pre-chorus, I envisioned this British attitude reminiscent of bands like Bloc Party and Test Icicles, and I wanted it to come from someone who could back the attitude up. Graham is the perfect example of someone who can back-up their words with action.”
Sayle meanwhile said of the chance to work with the aforementioned trio:
“I was proper excited to jump on and be a part of it. I’ve always loved the chaotic side of the post-hardcore spectrum. I love the difference in our accents and how it somehow makes sense.”
The below music video for the song directed by Adam Thomson concludes a trilogy of the band began in January with the visuals for “NEW YOU ANTHEM” (feat. Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, etc.) and followed in March with “CONSTANT TENSION“. Held. will be dropping their debut album “GREY” on May 15th through MNRK Heavy.
If you want to be there at the ground floor, Held. will be playing their debut live show April 18th at Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY. Common Sage will also be on that bill.
