Norwegian symphonic death metal titans Dimmu Borgir are offering their fans a chance at an ‘Unholy Halloween‘ this year. To that end, the group will be headlining a set at the Oslo Spektrum Arena in Oslo, Norway on Halloween, October 31st.

Their countrymen in veteran black metal outfit Satyricon and progressive black metallers Enslaved will also be taking part in that show, which the trio of bands aim to be the biggest black metal show ever staged on Norwegian soil. The aforementioned venue can hold up to 11,500 people, in case you were curious.

Word of this show follows Dimmu Borgir recently announcing their new album “Grand Serpent Rising. Their tenth studio album overall, that record will be their first since 2018 and is headed for release on May 22nd. For now, their vocalist Shagrath had the following to say about this ambitious new live show:

“We’re releasing our new album Grand Serpent Rising this spring, followed by extensive touring across Europe and other markets. By the time we return to Norway, we’ll be ready to deliver something truly massive. Since it’s been so long since our last headline show at home, we’re going all in. This will be the biggest Dimmu Borgir production to date.”

While Dimmu Borgir have played various festivals in Oslo in recent years, their last proper show at the Spektrum took place all the way back in 2011. Shagrath‘s bandmate, guitarist Silenoz, added of returning to that venue:

“This is more than a concert – it’s a statement. A celebration of a culture we’ve helped build over decades. Sharing the stage at Oslo Spektrum with bands that have been part of that same journey feels both significant and necessary.”

Satyricon vocalist/guitarist, etc. Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven revealed that the idea to stage a black metal show on this grand of a stage is an idea he began pursuing decades ago:

“It’s been over 20 years since I first explored the idea of bringing together some of the giants of Norwegian black metal on the biggest stages in Europe. We never made it happen back then. Now, two decades later, it’s finally becoming a reality – and on a scale beyond anything we imagined. This will be our Super Bowl.”

Enslaved guitarist/vocalist, etc. Ivar Bjørnson also chimed in on his own band’s involvement opening the night, offering:

“We are very excited about being invited to be part of this massive endeavour; which will celebrate the leading edge of Norwegian Metal on the appropriate scale! We will bring our best game as always… and then some!”

Tickets will be available this coming Friday, April 10th at 10:00am CET
