Vulvodynia Launch Open Auditions For A New Vocalist

South African deathcore/death metal outfit Vulvodynia are back on the hunt for another vocalist, having just launched open auditions for that position. The group are currently 0 for 2 in finding a permanent member to inhabit that role so far. Back in 2023, Duncan Bentley was ejected from the band after a violent altercation with drummer Thomas Hughes.

While guitarist Lwandile Prusent took up fronting the band for a stint, Zion Bittenbender was welcomed into the fold in October 2025, freeing up Prusent to focus on his primary role on guitars. However, Bittenbender‘s hiring proved controversial, as he was almost immediately dogged by allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual assault and more.

While Bittenbender went on to step down from the band with plans to address the allegations via proper legal channels, it wasn’t until this past March that the group officially parted ways with him. Bittenbender for his part denied the allegations and made clear he wasn’t enthused with how his firing from the group was conducted.

Given the amount of drama already endured by Vulvodynia, so far their requirements for a new vocalist are relatively boilerplate. Speaking via social media (see below), the group encouraged participants to send in a cover of a song of their choice from the band’s latest album, 2024’s “Entabeni“.

“Rules: Record a vocal cover of your favourite song from Entabeni (preferably one take)

Post it on your socials and tag #vulvoauditions

Email your audition video to [email protected]

Auditions end on April 30th”
