Moodring mastermind Hunter Young has revealed a list of albums that influenced his alternative metal band’s latest release, “Death Fetish“. That record saw a release on March 17th and according to Young, drew inspiration from numerous nü-metal staples. He said of that over the weekend on X:

“Due to some outright interesting and misguided comparisons (that feel like they’re made because metalcore twt has no frame of reference) here some albums that inspired “death fetish”.”

The albums he listed included:

  • Orgy – “Candyass
  • Dir En Grey – “Vulgar
  • Spineshank – “The Height Of Callousness
  • Pitchshifter – “www.pitchshifter.com
  • Fear Factory – “Obsolete
  • Radiohead – “Kid A
  • Seotaiji – “Seotaiji VI
  • Filter – “The Amalgamut
  • Korn – “Life Is Peachy
  • Sepultura – “Chaos A.D.
  • the GazettE – “Beautiful Deformity
  • Failure – “Fantastic Planet

Young also cited Emmure‘s 2007 album “Goodbye To The Gallows” as one of his vocal inspirations, offering, “You’ve heard me stream, it should be obvious.”
