Extinction A.D.‘s new anti-authoritarian track “Thaw” is now available to stream and download. It comes with the below music video. The crossover outfit signed with M-Theory Audio earlier this year, with this track being their second offering since forging that partnership.

Vocalist/guitarist Rick Jimenez (also of This Is Hell) commented on the political intent behind the lyrics for this song as follows:

“It’s very easy to assume writing an anti-authoritarian song is passé in heavy music in 2026, but as a band that exists in both the metal world and the hardcore world, it’s surprisingly polarizing. The ‘defenders of the status quo’ all the way to the ‘regressive back-to-the-past’ thinking infiltrating our scenes is purely bizarre to me. This song is an unabashed condemnation of the abuse of federal power in the ICE organization and the denial of celebrating racist and fascist ideals under the guise of supporting politicians.

The video for ‘Thaw’ was to bring like-minded people into our world and be just as, if not more, important than the four members of the band. It’s not just our song, it’s everyone’s song.”
