The Prince Of Darkness himself Ozzy Osbourne was honored at tonight’s (February 28th) ‘BRIT Awards‘ ceremony in Manchester, UK. First up, the late heavy metal icon was posthumously honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. A musical tribute to him was also staged, with a performance of the title track from his 1991 hit solo album “No More Tears” being fronted by British pop star Robbie Williams.
A cadre of Osbourne‘s former bandmates backed him, including guitarist Zakk Wylde, bassist Robert Trujillo, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.
Ozzy‘s widow Sharon Osbourne accepted the Lifetime Achievement Awards on his behalf, with her time on stage being was by a video testimonial for Ozzy from Dolly Parton. Sharon, who appeared with both her daughter Kelly and Ozzy‘s son Louis, went on to say [via Consequence]:
“I’m honored to accept this award for my gorgeous husband. God knows I wish he was here to accept it himself… Ozzy is looking down on us right now… He rose to become one of the most recognizable and respected musicians. … To be honest with you, he was the most humble egomaniac you will ever meet. At the end of the day, he will always be a rock star… If Ozzy was here tonight … he would be so proud to receive this from the country that he loved.”
