Industrial metal legends Nine Inch Nails kicked off the latest North American leg of their ‘Peel It Back‘ tour last night, February 05th, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA. That return to the stage took place without longtime bassist, etc. Alessandro Cortini. Appearing instead in his place was Stu Brooks, a co-founder of the dub/metal crossover outfit Dub Trio.
Brooks has also worked with numerous artists ranging from Mike Patton to Lady Gaga and 50 Cent in the past. Nine Inch Nails shared the below clip confirming his addition to the fold on their social media today, February 06th. As for the sprawling setlist for this tour launch, the following songs were played:
B-Stage:
“Something I Can Never Have“
“Non-Entity” (first time since 2009)
“Piggy“
Main Stage:
“Wish“
“March Of The Pigs“
“The Fraill“
“Reptile“
“Heresy“
“Copy Of A“
“Gave Up“
B-Stage (feat. Boys Noize):
“Vessel“
“Closer“
“Parasite” (How To Destroy Angels cover)
“As Alive As You Need Me To Be“
Main Stage:
“Somewhat Damaged“
“Less Than“
“The Perfect Drug“
“I’m Afraid Of Americans” (David Bowie cover)
“The Hand That Feeds“
“Head Like A Hole“
“Hurt“
Brooks‘ addition to the roster follows last year’s return of drummer Josh Freese, who replaced Ilan Rubin. Ironically, Rubin exited Nine Inch Nails to replace Freese in Foo Fighters, Adding a further twist to that proverbial game of musical chairs, it was originally Rubin who replaced Freese in Nine Inch Nails back in 2008.
