Influential metalcore outfit Hatebreed have largely wrapped up work on their first new studio album since 2020’s “Weight Of The False Self“. The status of that ninth studio effort from the veteran CT-based band was recently confirmed by guitarist/vocalist Frank Novinec. During an appearance on the ‘Hardlore‘ podcast, the latter revealed the band’s current plan is to have that record out this year, describing it as already being “pretty much” done.

This new full-length will showcase a significant change in the band’s roster, with bassist Chris Beattie having been fired in November of 2024, leading to a bitter legal dispute. Beattie and frontman Jamey Jasta were long-time primary songwriters for the band, with Novinec confirming as much in this new chat. He stated of the band’s songwriting dynamic:

“I think I have one riff on one song. It was always Chris and Jamey writing the music. That’s it. From day one, it’s Chris and Jamey. They’re the guys [who wrote all the music] from day one, for the most part.”
