Watch Primus Jam With Members Of Metallica, Green Day, Tool & More At 2026 'Bass Magazine Awards'

Primus vocalist/bassist Les Claypool was honored onstage at the 2026 ‘Bass Magazine Awards‘ last night, January 23rd. That special event in part saw Claypool awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the publication. Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt was also presented with that honor as well.

To celebrate Claypool receiving the honors, several past recipients of that honor joined him and his bandmates in Primus onstage last night at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. Tool bassist Justin Chancellor, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award last year, stepped in with Dirnt on “Too Many Puppies“. Metallica, etc. bassist Robert Trujillo joined in for “My Name Is Mud“, while Marcus Miller —another past recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award — added some extra flavor to “Tommy The Cat“.
