Josh Eppard, drummer of platinum-certified progressive rockers Coheed And Cambria and more, appears in the latest episode of Drumeo‘s ‘For The First Time’ series. That recurring segment finds musicians being introduced to a song for the first time, the catch being it is played for them with the percussion removed. With that proverbial blank slate in their mind, the drummer is then tasked to come up with their own drum parts.
Outside of getting a peek at their creative process, you also get to see their eventual reaction to hearing the actual studio version of the song. For Eppard‘s appearance, the song he was unfamiliar with was “After Forever“, a 1971 track from heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath. He did however eventually guess correctly that the song was done by Black Sabbath.
