The upcoming biopic film on the life of the late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne remains in development. An update on that project was recently shared by Ozzy‘s son Jack during an appearance on SiriusXM‘s ‘Influenced With Billy Morrison‘. According to Jack, an actor has been selected to play the beloved Prince Of Darkness, but they are not yet ready to make an announcement. The film has also secured a director and has been undergoing a script rewrite as of late. The following exchange took place regarding all that:
Jack Osbourne: We are in full steam into the next phase of development with his movie.
Billy Morrison: So that’s the biopic. That’s an acted-
Jack: Yes. That’s an acted movie that Sony Studios, we’ve been developing with Sony Studios for like six years already.
Billy: What did your dad think when he was alive about that? I mean, I know he said he wanted Denzel Washington to play him.
Jack: Sadly, it’s not Denzel.
Billy: It’s not Denzel?
Jack: No, no. Listen, we have our decided pick and we’re still kind of, you know, I can’t say anything, but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor, but we haven’t, I mean, we have a director attached and we’re doing a rewrite right now.
Billy: That’s really exciting. I mean, that’s up there with the, you know, Freddie Mercury one. I mean, it’s been a big deal. The Bob Dylan one, but I think doing an Ozzy one is wonderful. I think he’d get a kick out of it.
Jack: Oh, he would, and all he kept saying, I’d give him updates. Like, ‘Oh, you know, we met with this guy and this is happening,’”’ and he just would go, he goes, ‘“’I don’t give a shit. Just tell me when it’s out so I can go see it.’”’
Sadly, Ozzy passed away on July 22nd, 2025 at the age of 76 following a heart attack and a lengthy battle with illness.
